What Is The HCG Diet


Today many people have heard of the HCG Diet, but this diet is far from new. It was developed in the 1950′s in Italy and is actually the most effective diet I have encountered for me personally with the possible exception of the diet I developed in college and that one was tailor made for me.

It is a diet that uses a hormone that is either injected or taken orally using homeopathic drops or capsules. This hormone causes the body to use the bodies fat for nutrition while you eat almost nothing. I know people who have used the injections, but my experience is with the homeopathic drops.

My Results


The HCG diet plan might be called the HCG diet solution because it allows you to lose large amount of weight in a short amount of time. I personally have done the diet twice and the first time I followed it religiously and lost 43 pounds in 28 days. The second time I cheated at least 2 or 3 times a week and lost 25 pounds in about 35 days.

The Cost


Whatever you spend on the drops is more than made up in the savings on food since your food intake is limited to 500 calories a day, a fact that kept me from trying the diet for over 6 months while friends kept pushing me to try it. The truth is that I had no trouble with the 500 calorie a day limit either time. I have had friends who really had an issue with this, however.

“Pig Out” Its Good For You!


In my opinion the key to success is to really “pig out” the first 2 days. This is what you are supposed to do on the diet per the instructions in order to get the drops circulating in the blood stream but from survey I found that the ones who got hungry on the diet “skimped” on this part. I on the other hand, facing a month with 500 calories a day, when told to eat as much as I could- ate ’til it hurt.

I was never really hungry while doing the diet. But as I have emphasized in this blog every body is different and like I mentioned above, there are people I know who said they got real hungry at times on the diet.

Who Should Do The HCG Diet?


The HGC diet solution is for people who have a large amount of weight to lose. I broke my leg in 2002 and had not been under 300 pounds since then. With the HCG solution I easily went way below that barrier the first time I did the diet.

I don’t know if you have ever tried to lose a lot of weight before but the moral victory of getting below 300 pounds after years of getting close but not making it stably below that barrier was worth it even if I had been hungry the whole time. But as I stated for me it was effortless.

Is It Different For Men And Women?


Is the HGC diet for men different than the HCG diet for women? As far as I can tell not really. Most of my friends that have done it were women and only about a quarter were men but since I’m a man I can say that from my discussions with my friends ( I know about 50 people who have done it and 2 that failed at it.) that the experiences seem to about the same. Oh, and the 2 that failed 1 was a man and the other was a woman.

I will write a few posts giving some of the more technical points, but this post is just to relate my personal experiences with the HCG diet plan and to give you my opinion of it. There is still no such thing as a perfect diet for everyone, but for me this one is close to perfect. It is also about the cheapest diet as well since the cost of the drops is more than made up by the small amount of food you eat.
