the truth about SALT
“Is Salt Really So Bad?
Experts Disagree About Its Role in High Blood Pressure”
By Salynn Boyles:
Sept. 25, 2003 — If you have high blood pressure, you’ve probably been told to reduce the salt in your diet, but new findings are challenging the idea that sodium is a major culprit in promoting high blood pressure.
Researchers who have argued against the salt-blood pressure link for almost two decades presented new data Thursday suggesting that high blood pressure is much more closely linked to a diet low in minerals such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium than sodium intake. The data were presented at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 57th annual high blood pressure research conference in Washington, D.C.
In the newly reported study, roughly 33,000 people had their blood pressures recorded.
Researchers divided the participants’ sodium, calcium, and total mineral intake into four groups and found that while blood pressure did not vary significantly according to sodium intake, higher calcium intake was associated with lower blood pressure. In one of the most recent surveys, higher mineral intake was also linked to lower blood pressure.
Dr. David McCarron, MD:
The data indicate that it is not the sodium per se that affects blood pressure, but the lack of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and probably some other minerals and vitamins.

natural salt is …
natural salt is great…has more than 80 minerals and other stuffs… today, salt is treated and refined, and what we eat today is not SALT….
The lies just keep …
The lies just keep stacking up! Everything that’s good they tell us it’s bad and vice versa! >:O
any person “worth …
any person “worth his salt” knows that
my sister and i had …
my sister and i had the same reaction of, “that is good to know because i like salt”.
my dad said he wondered about that, because we’re told salt is bad, but the Bible says salt is good. and that he wondered if we had been lied too to make the Bible look ingnorant, which is the same thing he said about the geocentrism topic.
i also have always …
i also have always used plenty of salt and like everything to always have strong flavor. i tried not too once in a while because supposedly it was healthier to go low sodium, but that never lasted 2 seconds. i told my sister, “THIS LOW SODIUM STUFF IS A JOKE!! FORGET THIS!” (i exclaim as i am shaking salt furiously onto my food) i have had my blood pressure tested many times over the years, including just recently, and it has always been EXTREMELY low.
lol Yes! that’s …
lol Yes! that’s what they said in my physiology, biochemistry and all the other life science classes. Thank you for the information!
If you google grey …
If you google grey salt and or pink salt you should find a lot of information. There are many different kinds of salts. These two seem to have the most minerals in them. The grey salt is a sea salt and the pink salt usually comes from the himalayas.
Table salt is mined …
Table salt is mined as you say but they add in small ammounts of Potasium Iodine. (a different type of mineral)
Iodine is harmfull in high does but your body does need trace ammounts of it to use in the production of some hormones.
A thyroid disorder known as goiter can result from iodine deficiency.
Sea salt should also contain trace ammounts of iodine as well as a number of other minerals (all the stuff disolved in the ocean)
I should’ve …
I should’ve mentioned in the video to check salt you buy to make sure it has no additives.
I personally buy sea salt only because that’s the only kind of salt sold at the store I shop at! But I always assumed mined salt is just as good if kept PURE. I can’t imagine what processing could ruin it. Since it’s a mineral, I assume they just dig it up and grind it into little pieces. What else is there?
I agree with you …
I agree with you here, I recently studied this out.
However I do not recommend people have plain out table salt. Study that out and you will see why. From what I have studied french grey salt and pink salt seem to be the best. Sea salts that are not altered or have any additives are great as well.
I believe regular table salt in corrupted in the same way that white sugar is.
The natural replacements would be one of the salts I mentioned above and raw honey; or some other natural sweetener.
my understanding:
…
my understanding:
A high amount of salt in your diet can increase the osmotic pressure in your blood. To compensate you body pulls water from the kidneys and limph nodes to dilute out the extra salt. The added volume to your blood will increase your blood pressure. This increase should not be long lasting though; as soon as your kidneys filter out the added salt (and you pee it out) your blood pressure should be back to normal. (the whole process would be over in a few minutes/hours)
Good info.
Gary …
Good info.
Gary Taubes’ revolutionary book, “Good Calories Bad Calories” also debunks the Salt-High Blood Pressure hypothesis.
I feel so stupid …
I feel so stupid for believing that salt is bad for me.
Thanks for setting me straight.
Also, salt used to …
Also, salt used to be a precious substance.
Leviticus 2:13

Leviticus 2:13
“And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.”
Job 6:6
“Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?”
Colossians 4:6
“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”
Drug companies keep …
Drug companies keep their profits from blood pressure drugs by keeping you from knowing the real causes of and solutions to high blood pressure. Follow the money: Drug companies to the FDA to the AMA to doctors and the American Heart Association.
Thomas Jefferson:
“If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.”
Thanks for this lovely read, even though it did take quite a long time to read. (English is not my mother language) May I ask where you got your sources from? Many thanks! Chang
