KIDNEY STINTS, OR SHUNTS – what is the procedure called and how does it help lower blood pressure?

A neighbor could not get his blood pressure down using diet, exercise and medication. As a last resort stints or shunts were put in somewhere going to his kidney. How does this help?
It sounds like he had a stent placed in his renal artery.
If a kidney isn’t getting enough blood, it release chemicals that raise the blood pressure.
Once the stent is placed, the blood pressure should start to normalize.
